On view in Shanghai: Images of Ireland and China
22nd February 2012: An extensive exhibition of drawings, paintings and digital images by Tom Kelly and John Short of DIT, and Yijia Wang of the Shanghai Institute of Visual Arts (SIVA) is set to open in Shanghai during St. Patrick’s Week. The images were all created during a collaboration between colleagues and students from DIT and SIVA that started in 2007 and still continues. They are the result of field trips undertaken in Ireland and in China and they feature landscapes, seascapes, streetscapes, interiors and legends from both countries by three artists from three perspectives – culturally, creatively and technically.
The exhibition will be opened on Wednesday 14th march by the Irish Consul General to Shanghai, Mr. Austin Gormley in the V Art Center in Shanghai. Supported by Culture Ireland, the School of Art and Design, DIT, and the Shanghai Institute of Visual Arts in Fudan University, it will be on view to the public from 15 March to 15 April.
