Virtual Art Forum Launched by DIT
25th January, 2005 : The Faculty of Applied Arts at the Dublin Institute of Technology today launched DrawingLab - a new initiative which allows artists, academics, critics and others with an interest in drawing to collaborate via a virtual forum. DrawingLab is avisually and textually interactive virtual space in which the practice and concept of drawing can be explored where 'drawing' is explicitly understood in the widest possible sense as: visual marks used in communicating ideas in the context of an individual's professional practice.
Drawings by artists, designers, architects, engineers, chemists, physicists, biologists, mathematicians, geographers, geologists, choreographers, composers, linguists, and others will be gathered as source material. These drawings will offer a basis for sustained visual and textual conversations about drawing that have a strong, critical focus.
The launch of DrawingLab took place in the Irish Museum of Modern Art.
