DIT Student wins Best Irish Short Documentary award
'Tina' produced as part of course work for the BA Media Arts, DIT School of Media was the winner of the Best Irish Short Documentary section of the recent 'Stranger than Fiction' Documentary Festival & Market (Thursday, 30 September 2004 - Sunday, 3 October 2004)
The 12-minute documentary, researched, directed and produced by Paula Rouse, BA Media Arts (to graduate November 2004) is the story of one woman's quest to alter misconceptions of African culture in Ireland. An Irish citizen, Tina still maintains a strong sense of her African identity.
The Stranger Than Fiction Documentary Festival is run by the Irish Film Institute of Ireland, which is the national body for film culture in Ireland. The festival brings the best of international documentary to Irish audiences, showcases contemporary Irish work, as well as retrospectives of the work of past masters. Stranger Than Fiction is both a public film festival and an industry conference.
