Portfolio Week in DIT School of Creative ArtsPosted: 12 March, 2018
While final year students are working hard on their graduation projects and preparing for their end of year show, prospective students were submitting their portfolios to be considered for a place in their programme of choice in September.
The studios in North House in Grangegorman were stacked high with portfolios from the next generation of artists, many showing incredible promise and talent already.
Teams of academic staff reviewed the submissions, bringing a range of different perspectives from their own practice and future students will find themselves working directly with artists who are exceptionally well known in their own fields. For example, Neville Knott, who teaches on the Interior and Furniture Design, will be known to many viewers for bringing his design expertise to interior design television programmes; while Dr Naomi Sex and Dr Niamh Ann Kelly who teach students in Fine Art are successful artists in their own right who exhibit regularly. Dr Naomi Sex had a recent exhibition in the RHA Gallery which was widely praised, and a video of that exhibition is available here.
Students who submitted their portfolios will be glad to know that the reviewers were extremely impressed with the standard and will be hoping to meet them in September as students in the School of Creative Arts.
