The Elite Athlete Academic Entry Scheme is now open for applications for top athletes planning to begin their undergraduate studies in DIT this September. The deadline to apply is 1st May 2018.

The scheme was created to recognise the strenuous training and competition commitments of elite athletes and offers the very best sportspeople a maximum of 10% or 45 additional CAO points for admission to all DIT undergraduate programmes. Applicants that can demonstrate a high level of sporting performance and potential for further improvement should apply before the May 1st deadline to secure their place.

In addition to extra CAO points, the Elite Athlete Scheme provides a package of support services, which includes access to strength and conditioning; academic mentoring and flexible study options; physiotherapy; nutrition; performance skills workshops and high-performance training facilities. Some students may also be eligible for financial assistance.

Irish Archer, Daniel Foley is a DIT Elite Athlete and Scholar, and he couldn’t be happier with the support he receives from DIT Sports. “Receiving the additional CAO points was a great achievement and being part of the sporting side of DIT is such a privilege. DIT provides world-class gym facilities and flexible study options that enable me to train and compete at the highest levels.  With these benefits, I believe that I have a great opportunity to grow as an elite athlete by refining my shooting form and implementing this in practice and competition.  This will hopefully give me a platform to represent my College at the 2019 World University Games in Naples and Ireland at a European and World Level.”
