President of DIT delivers talk at Corning Inc

Professor Brian Norton, President of DIT was recently invited to visit Corning Inc at their headquarters in the town of Corning, New York State.

Professor Norton delivered a presentation to the senior technical team on advances in low heat loss using solar control and had discussions with Heads of Research about technology transfer in DIT.

Founded over 160 years ago, Corning has developed unique expertise in speciality glass, ceramics, and optical physics with wide-ranging applications.  It is recognised as one of the world’s leading innovators in materials science and has established research centres in North America, Europe and Asia.

DIT has developed strong links with Corning Inc and the company is currently supporting Doctoral research at DIT, under Dr. Tony Buckley in the College of Business.   Fran Behan, a DIT graduate and Innovation Effectiveness Manager in Corning, was appointed Adjunct Innovation Research Fellow at DIT Hothouse last year and has delivered a Masterclass on the topic of “Why is Innovation so Challenging” to a group of entrepreneurs and mentors.
