College of Arts and Tourism staff and students raise money for the Hospitality Trust
4th July 2012: DIT staff and students raised over two thousand euro at a charity lunch held in Cathal Brugha St. The event was organised by a team involving staff and students from the School of Hospitality Management and Tourism, the School of Culinary Arts and Food Technology and the Conservatory of Music and Drama at DIT’s College of Arts and Tourism. Students from the BA in Hospitality Management, BA in Culinary Arts BSc in Event Management helped organise the event which was attended by DIT retired and current staff. These students were supervised by Mr Tony Campbell and Mr. Pat Zaidan from the School of Culinary Arts. Students from the Conservatory of Music and Drama performed at the event under the guidance of lecturers Robert Alderson and Mairead Hurley.

The Hospitality Trust is a charity to support those working in the hospitality sector who have fallen on difficult times. The Chairperson of the Trust Ms. Joan O’Shaughnessy thanked Dr. Dominic Dillane Head of School of Hospitality Management and Tourism at DIT for having organised the event and acknowledged the huge contribution the schools in Cathal Brugha St. had made to the development of the hospitality sector in Ireland. As a graduate of the college Joan was particularly appreciative of DIT’s support for the Hospitality Trust and she looks forward to working closely with the College of Arts and Tourism in the future.
