Dr. Ray Ekins holds a BSc degree in Experimental Physics from University College Dublin (1997) and was awarded his PhD degree by University College Dublin in 1993 for research in the field of astrophysics, specifically for a study of Short Timescale Optical Observations of Blazars.
Ray lectures in the areas of Science, Applied Science, Applied Engineering Science, Precision Measurement including dimensional measurement and surface texture analysis. He also provides support to final year project and postgraduate research students in Measurement and Testing.
Ray is active in supervision of postgraduate research students in the Department in various fields including Magnetic Field modelling and Generation, Assistive Technology and Computer Interface Design Methodology, Bi-axial material testing and Surface Texture measurement.
Ray is also an expert in the field of commercial audio installation and design.
