MA sa Ghaeilge Fheidhmeach/ MA in Applied Irish

Course Description

Cuireadh tús leis an gcúrsa páirtaimseartha dhá bhliain seo i 2008.  Tá an MA á thairiscint ag Scoil na dTeangacha,an Dlí agus na nEolaíochtaí Sóisialta, Coláiste na nEalaíon agus na Turasóireachta, Institiúid Teicneolaíochta Bhaile Átha Cliath, i gcomhar le Gaelchultúr Teoranta (www.gaelchultur.com).

Tá deiseanna fostaíochta nua ann le roinnt blianta anuas do chéimithe a bhfuil ardscileanna teanga acu sa Ghaeilge, go háirithe ó tháinig Acht na dTeangacha Oifigiúla 2003 i bhfeidhm agus ó bhain an Ghaeilge stádas oifigiúil amach san Aontas Eorpach. Tá an MA seo sa Ghaeilge Fheidhmeach dírithe go príomha ar na fostaithe de chuid na hearnála poiblí a bheidh ag obair trí mheán na Gaeilge as seo amach agus ar chéimithe ar mian leo teacht i dtír ar na deiseanna fostaíochta a bheidh ar fáil in Éirinn agus san Eoraip sna blianta atá romhainn.

Tá an cúrsa MA oiriúnach chomh maith dóibh siúd ar mian leo poist a bhaint amach mar aistritheoirí, teangairí, dlí-theangeolaithe, léitheoirí profaí agus rúnaithe, agus beidh spéis ag múinteoirí scoile, ag daoine atá ag obair sna meáin, i gcúrsaí gnó, sa turasóireacht chultúrtha agus i réimsí gaolmhara eile ann freisin.

Níl bheidh an MA sa Ghaeilge Fheidhmeach á thairiscint sa bhliain acadúil 2017-18.

MA sa Ghaeilge Fheidhmeach/ MA in Applied Irish

This two year part-time course commenced in January 2008.  The MA is being offered by the School of Languages, Laws and Social Sciences, College of Arts and Tourism, Dublin Institute of Technology, in conjunction with Gaelchultúr Teoranta (www.gaelchultur.com).

New employment opportunities have emerged in recent years for graduates who have high level language skills in Irish, especially since the passing into law of the Official Languages Act 2003 and the recognition of Irish as an official working language of the European Union. This new MA sa Ghaeilge Fheidhmeach is aimed at employees in the public sector who work or will work  through the medium of Irish and at graduates to wish to take advantage of the employment opportunities which will be available in Ireland and in Europe in the years ahead.

The course is also suitable for those who wish to work as translators, interpreters, lawyer- linguists, proofreaders and secretaries, and it will be of interest as well to teachers, journalists and those working in business and in cultural tourism.
