Hourly Paid Assistant Lecturer Panel Selection

The School of Food Science & Environmental Health is seeking to create a panel of hourly-paid Assistant Lecturers in Food Science, Pharmaceutical Science, Environmental Health Science and Pharmacy Technician Studies to cover available hours that may arise during academic session. The position will involve lecturing on the suite of programmes offered by the school at undergraduate and postgraduate level. Tutor / Senior Demonstrator Vacancies

The School of Food Science & Environmental Health is seeking to employ Tutor / Senior Demonstrators on a part time basis to assist in the delivery of laboratory provision in our Food, Pharmaceutical and Environmental Science laboratories. Applicants will have a BSc in Environmental, Food or Pharmaceutical Sciences or related discipline and have completed or be undertaking a Masters or PhD through research. Applicants must have experience in tutoring / demonstrating at third level and/or industrial experience in a relevant discipline area.  Applicants must display knowledge of relevant Health and Safety procedures and Good Laboratory Practice and must demonstrate an ability to work independently and as part of an undergraduate and postgraduate teaching team.

 

Successful applicants will be timetabled for up to 8 hours a day in a part-time capacity to assist in the delivery of laboratory practical’s to undergraduate students through the following duties:

  • Senior Demonstrators will supervise students carrying out practical work scheduled in the timetable in accordance with instructions provided by their academic supervisor and to report to the academic supervisor.
  • Advise, instruct and assist students so as to help them acquire a full understanding of the principles underlying their practical work, the reporting of such work and on established practice in relation to, the work being supervised.
  • Provide support in the carrying out of assessment, attendance monitoring and evaluation of examinations work.
  • Ensure compliance with Health and Safety requirements.
