The DITs School of Culinary Arts and Food Technology are truly delighted to be working once again with Stafford Lynch Food Services Division http://www.staffordlynch.ie/about.html to bring yet again a number of very exciting 2014 Competition Events to our students here in Cathal Brugha Street.
Barilla Chef Competition 2014
The School of Culinary Arts and Food Technology is pleased to welcome this year’s selected Barilla Academy Master Chef from Parma, Italy who will present a master class/work shop to 16 student participants on Friday the 21st of February, 2014.
Following on from the Master Class presentation, 6 finalists will then be short listed by the selection panel to take part in the competition to be held on Friday the 28th of March, 2014. Finalists will be chosen based on their submitted recipes: a.) 1 x Barilla Pasta starter dish and b.) 1 x Barilla Pasta main course dish; both of which must utilise a number of selected Barilla Pasta products. The overall winner of this competition will receive an all-expense paid trip to Parma, Italy.

The Tabasco® 'Hottest Chef' Competition 2014
The Tabasco 'Hottest Chef’' Competition in association with Stafford Lynch Food Services Division is now in its second year running with the top prize for this competition being an all-expense paid trip to Louisiana, USA. All Tabasco competition entrants must be 21-years of age by September 2014.
The Hottest Chef Competition is a most challenging, thematic culinary event which demands that SCAFT students’ create original, bold and flavourful recipes that further demonstrate how using one or more TABASCO® brand Pepper Sauces enhances the flavours in food.
A Tabasco Master Class is set for Thursday the 3rd of April, 2014 and to be held in Cathal Brugha Street’s Kitchen 17 from 2-6pm; so the first 16 entries will be those chosen to participate.
Following on from the Master Class, a total of 6 finalists and 2 alternates will then be selected for the head to head competition to be held in Cathal Brugha Street’s Green Room Kitchen on Friday the 2nd of May, 2014. The winner of this year’s competition will receive an all-expense paid trip to Louisiana, USA before the end of 2014.
