These courses make full use of the extensive laboratory facilities available as well as providing a broad background to theory and specific case studies. The use of E-learning support mechanisms is present on all courses.
- BSc (Hons) Forensic and Environmental Chemistry (DT203)
- BSc (Hons) Chemical Science with Medicinal Chemistry (DT299)
- BSc (Hons) Science with Nanotechnology (DT227)
- BSc Science (DT212)
- BSc Medicinal Chemistry and Pharmaceutical Sciences (DT261)
These degrees have been designed with industry input and emphasise the applied nature of the field and may include industrial placement or opportunities for travel abroad. The programmes make use of e-learning in many areas and begin in first year with the teaching of physics through Problem-Based Learning which the School has pioneered through the work of the Physics Education Research Group.
These courses provide a sound foundation of mathematical principles together with a range of modelling and computer skills with an emphasis on problem-solving techniques. This integrated approach ensures that our graduates possess excellent technical, analytical and problem-solving skills, well-suited to the modern commercial and industrial environments, as well as more traditional careers in teaching and research.
These programmes help students to develop practical computer science and information technology skills combined with creativity and independent thinking. The School of Computing have strong links with partner colleges internationally and with national organisations in the fields in which we provide programmes which is the key point in making a significant contribution to meeting the skills needs of the ICT sector.
