Temporary Technical Employment Opportunity – Laboratory Assistant, School of Chemical & Pharmaceutical Sciences, DIT

The School of Chemical & Pharmaceutical Sciences currently has an urgent requirement for a temporary laboratory assistant to provide support for chemical laboratories in the areas of analytical, organic, inorganic, physical and process/pharmaceutical chemistry. The role to be filled will focus on providing assistance to technical staff and undertaking housekeeping duties including the general maintenance of laboratories, cleaning of glassware, setting out of equipment for synthetic chemistry and early undergraduate laboratories. This is an opportunity to gain direct experience in a technical role within the School, with preference given to internal applicants. The post will be filled on a temporary wholetime, emergency basis in order to cover a period of unplanned leave. The exact duration of this period of cover is unknown, however we expect it to be approximately 6 – 8 weeks. The contract will terminate once the period of leave ends or on the 8th December 2017, whichever is sooner.

State of the art undergraduate teaching laboratories in these subject areas are complemented by a computer laboratory which provides the latest in education and training software. We have post graduate courses for the Pharmaceutical Industry covering Manufacturing, Validation and Quality Assurance.
