Guide to Cork City's architectural heritage, May 2101

Myrtle Allen of Ballymaloe County House Hotel launched "A Guide to Cork’s 20th Century Architecture" by Tom Spalding, lecturer in Product Design on 26th May.  Myrtle’s family has a rich background in Architecture – she is the daughter of Henry Hill, the Architect of well-known Cork landmarks including the College of Commerce and the AIB Bank on South Mall. The photograph shows Myrtle and Tom outside the Bank building.

Featuring nearly 100 full colour photographs as well as a detailed fold-out map of the City centre and accompanied by a lively text the user friendly guide will appeal to those with an interest in Architecture, citizens and visitors to the City alike. It is sponsored by the Department of Environment, Heritage and Local Government as well as Cork Civic Trust and the Royal Institute of the Architects of Ireland, Southern Region. This publication follows on Tom's earlier "Cork City: A Field Guide to its Street Furniture" of 2009.
